What does it mean to you to be patriotic?
Basicaly to remember and stand up for the pricnipals the United States of America was founded on:
God & Country---God first and formost, our Forefathers founded this nation on and died for biblical principals. What could be more Patriotic than to try and live up to those ideals?
okay, you are riding in a car with a co-worker, or someone you don't know very well...
the person is clearly tailgating another driver, following much to close for the speed and road conditions...
how do you handle this???
yah, school is ok, of course I can't sit still very well, just not in me...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
yesterday was a little rocky w/ my co-worker...I think letting her drive is good and keeping my mouth shut is better. I wasn't complaing about her driving but I did ruffle her feather's a bit cause she was stating she would not sit in the front of the room, even if she had to move people (she's front row) I just told her I would be upset if somebody moved me w/o asking. She went off on a rant about how if peo
ple treated her a certain way it would really make her angry. So I let her know if I offended her I was sorry and she needed to let me know. amzing how we humans (won't) communicate sometimes. She never admited she was offended... We actually work in diff cities so I'm not around her much, it is interesting to see how people are out of their normal setting.
Our other co-worker is rather calmer than expected, and has made friends w/ a Canadian who seems sterotypical Aussie, (LOVES his beer) nice enough fellow though.
Eating way too good!!!!! Had some AHmazing Japanese last nite, and Cajun lunch and bison burger for diner back at the Depot...got to stop the food, although I did work out this morning, shall try to keep doing that...besides Beth Moore and Joyce Myer were on TV this morning in the work out room, cool, eh? And tonight we took a pretty good stroll after diner up a very, very steep hill, very pretty here, very hilly...very quiet little town it seems
Tommorow we plan to go to the Natural Bridge, Field trip, anyone? I sooo don't want to sit in a hotel room all nite and have no desire to see Wal Mart or the BigKmart again, ha ha. although we did visit Jerry Falwell's Church today, sorry no pix, It was quite impressive and Liberty University has a nice Campus too. Lots of history here, will probably explore more next week. I think we're heading to Virginia Beach Saturday, haven't found any one who wants to go to D.C. but will probably be back out here next year for more training...maybe will go then.
well here I sit in Atlanta, hmm, a little short of Virginia I'd say.
The funny thing is the Airline company said we were late because of OKC's Air traffic Control holding us up.
However, one of our co-workers, who left early in the morning spent most of his day in Atlanta, missed his scheduled flight, flew out on our scheduled (much later) flight. He said the lil ole' plane was packed out. Not to mention when we arrived at the "correct" gate, 2 terminals down from the one we were supposed to report too, in the opposite direction we started from (of course) the plane was long, long gone...hmmm, by all we can figure it took off a little early. Our only comp was a discounted rate at an Atlanta hotel and a lot of extra waiting.
However my co-worker was fiesty enough for both of us, soo, I chose to enjoy being amused and figure being late to School by a day won't kill me. had great lassagne! She was amusing, I get to play hookie the first day of school, life is pretty good, I'd say.... :o) too bad I don't have my swim suit...skinny...nah..
Just hoping things stay quiet on the home front, I hear you guys may be in for some rough weather tonight, thankfully my son is in good hands with my friend and her brother who was traveling thru but decided to stay over to avoid the storms. Not to mention I have 4 buds on a 450 mile bike ride, across the state, camping out tonight. Pray the Lord them all to keep, safe and sound.
last night I invited everyone from my SundaySchool class over for a cook out. Wow, I had no idea how many munchkins there were under the age of 6 or 7, and girls far out number boys ( one couple has 5 princesses! most have 3-4 kids and not all were present) I think including my son who is 14 there were 3 boys total, and one of the young ladies commented that we had only about 3 kids total over 5th grade. I think we may have had about a dozen adults and 20 kiddos(may be an exageration but alot!)
thankfully the wind died down and the sun slipped over the horizion which made it pretty pleasant outside. I had to send most of the over 5 crowd outside to get them away from the video games and asked my son to go out and find something to do as well. (It was interesting to note that most of the preschoolers found things in the yard and made up their own games...)
He was soo amzing! pretty soon he made up a game and he was the "Giant Monkey" on the Island (our trampoline) and there "sharks" (kiddos) around the "Island" off the trampoline. The kids on the "Island" the monkey would wrestle and send to the sharks and so on. Any way it was a real delight to see him interacting with the little ones so well. Since he's an only child it's pretty rare to see him with younger kids. And I got some nice compliments from one of the mom's who was very impressed at how well he was entertaining and playing with the little ones.
This morning I was complimenting him and telling him how much I appreciated him playing w/ and entertaining them, he said "I guess my inner daddy was coming out. You know I want to be a dad some day and I guess I need to practice".
awe, my mother heart melted. He also said "when I have kids I will have to teach him to be a gentleman or or her how to expect to be treated by a gentleman" It was a really sweet moment for me to realize that despite being divorced I might be doing pretty well raising this young man...I feel really blessed! to have such a sweet son.
and hopefully, next time more of the older boys will be there...
